What we measure, and what we don't

We measure how the site is used so we can tell which ideas are useful. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell or share data, and we do not set cookies.

Anonymous usage counts

Your browser keeps a random anonymous ID in local storage. With it we count page views, whether a page was read to the end, clicks on our buttons, video plays and poll answers, and we can tell a returning visitor from a new one. The ID is not linked to your name, email or any other site. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we record nothing. Clearing your site data removes the ID.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint visitors, for aggregate traffic figures.

What you choose to send

If you subscribe, or send an idea or correction, we store what you entered on our own infrastructure. We use it to improve what we publish and, if you left an email, to reply. We never sell or share it. To have it deleted, send the idea form again with the same email and ask for deletion in the message.
