Predicted close approaches: the next 7 days

These have not happened yet. Every day the whole public catalog is screened for pairs of objects forecast to pass within 5 km of each other in the coming week. We re-run each encounter with the newest orbit data. The globe shows all of them; every event also has its own close-up.

Each glow is a predicted close approach, placed where over the Earth it will happen. The globe runs in real time; switch to 60× or 600× to fast-forward through the week, and glows swell as the clock reaches their time. Point at one (or tap it) to draw both objects' paths; click again to watch the close-up. Drag to turn, scroll to zoom.

How to read this

Screening is CelesTrak's SOCRATES Plus run, which checks every pair in the public catalog. Latest data is our own recalculation with orbit data fetched today; when the two differ a lot, the older prediction was built on stale data or one satellite has manoeuvred since. Max prob is SOCRATES' worst-case collision probability, using an assumed position uncertainty because public orbit data carries none.

These are predictions from public data, not operator warnings. Satellite operators receive more accurate data and their own conjunction messages from the US Space Force and other providers. How tracking works · Derelict watch

Dead object versus dead object

Neither object can manoeuvre. If one of these turns out closer than predicted, nothing can be done about it.
